I want to capture the way you see your family, the joy and love you have for them. I want to show you how they see you and your partner. The laughter and the cuddle. The pure love and comfort they have when they snuggle in for cuddles. I want to capture their crazy sides, their venerable side and everything in-between
I want to be the one that captures the moments that you look back on years to come, when your all sitting round the dinner table, children grown, and your looking through the albums remember a simpler time. I want parents in these photos, its so important that the kids have something to look back on. They want to remember you as they saw you, their superhero. I want to capture the connection between you and your children. That’s what makes these shoots so amazing.
“At Home” Shoots
The reason why I love an “At Home” photo shoot is you get to capture the moments that you want to hang on to forever. Playing with the kids, jumping on the bed, snuggling on the sofa to the seemingly mundane moments that you wish with all your heart you could get back.
Having your family shoot at home is a great way to get really relaxed and natural photographs. I find most children relax more in their own environment, with their own toys and a more familiar routine. These shoots can be as intimate or as crazy as you wish.
“Into The Wild” Shoots
Getting outside with the family is a perfect way to get some real intimate family photos. Having an outside shoot gives children more freedom to run, play, jump off logs, and have a snuggle with parents in the grass. I love these shoots as they really show the closeness of your family in the big wide open space. It’s also a great way to bring nature into the home when you get them printed.
When you book with me we can have a chat about styling and colours that work with this kind of shoot, you will be on the grass and running about so you want to make sure you feel comfortable .
The best time for outside photos is an hour before the sun sets as you will get the beautiful glow from the sun going down, this is known as the “golden hour”. If your kids are anything like mine they will love doing these photos. We play, dance and get in close for cuddles
Those first few weeks as a mother you are caught in a whirlwind, you have this little person who needs so much love and attention and you are still trying to function through fog that you sometimes forget about the light.
You forget their little hand, their tiny feet, the faces they pull in their sleep. You forget how they felt when they laid on you or how still some moments really were. I want to capture these for you because you don’t realise how much you will miss the moments they fit in your hands and how they held your finger so tight they wouldn’t let go, until they are gone.
My shoots take place in the comfort of your own home. I want to eliminate any stress for new mums because I get it, I couldn’t have packed up all the bags, 3 outfit, bottles or clothes to breast feed to go to someone’s studio and let them go off with my newborn for 2 hours. I needed to be at home with a full draw of clothes, nappies, bottles that became my new safe place.
I also know that in two weeks you do not always feel like getting up and entertaining people at your house when you have had a new baby, which is why my newborn shoots can take place between 2 weeks and 2 months. With all my photos, my newborn shoots are all lifestyle, I do not put the babies in poses that I feel are unsafe. Colourful muslins and white vests are my idea of newborn heaven.
